Dr. Tiago Lima Bicalho Cruz is the founder of the vocal analysis courses using Praat and the creator of the VoxCheck software.
A speech-language pathologist, singing teacher, and voice researcher, Tiago developed these tools based on his clinical practice, academic experience, and involvement in projects focused on vocal assessment. In 2024, Dr. Tiago Cruz participated in the 15th Pan-European Voice Conference (PEVoC), held in Spain, where he presented two scientific papers. One of them explored the use of artificial intelligence in the separation of sung voices, and the other proposed a modern approach to vocal vibrato analysis. This participation reinforces FonoTech Academy's commitment to international research and innovation in voice science.
The Voice Foundation
In 2024, Dr. Tiago Cruz participated in the renowned symposium The Voice Foundation – Care of the Professional Voice, in Philadelphia, USA, presenting a paper in collaboration with Christian T. Herbst, Pedro Amarante Andrade, and Manuel Brandner.
The study addressed the accuracy of fundamental frequency (f₀) in voices separated from commercial recordings, using an innovative extraction and validation method developed by the authors.
